Nutcracker on Ice Auditions 2007

 Audition Schedule

Skaters must sign up for a time slot by September 10th in order to audition. Auditions will be held:

Friday, September 21st, 4-5:30 pm
Friday, September 28th, 4-5:30 pm

There will be a brief warm-up at the beginning of each audition session. Please be at the rink no later than 30 minutes before your scheduled time.

Audition Process

Skaters will audition individually, in the order in which they are signed up. Each skater must perform a prepared program (1-2.5 minutes). Skaters will also be given a piece of music to interpret. Each skater will be able to listen to the music two times.

Judging Process

Principles are selected based on several factors, including (but not limited to) skating strength and ability, presentation, age, level, and experience / participation. Judges are looking for skaters who show strong “stage presence” and theatrics, so smile and express yourself! The judges are more concerned with presentation than with technical ability. Preference may be given to older skaters and skaters who have demonstrated an active role in the sport and in their club, so it is very important to fully fill out the section for previous skating experience.  Skaters will not be given the same roles they had in previous years, unless the judges see fit to do so.  Having a principle part in past performances does not guarantee receiving one this year.  Principle assignments will be posted at Webster Ice Arena and online, no later than October 3rd.

Rehearsal and Show Schedule

Principles are expected to work on their program during their own time, although they must be at both dress rehearsals. Some roles may require extra practice with the director, other principle parts, or group numbers.

Saturday, December 8th, 9:30 am-12 pm
